WEB Tennessee Baseball Adds Another Arm
RHP Thomas Crabtree Commits to Vols
Crabtree, a junior-college standout, will join Tennessee's 2024 class
Junior-college RHP Thomas Crabtree committed to Tennessee baseball on Wednesday, adding another arm to the Vols' 2024 class.
Crabtree, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-hander, is a standout for Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee. He has a fastball that has been clocked in the low 90s and a developing changeup and slider.
Crabtree is a product of the Perfect Game showcase circuit and is ranked among the top junior-college pitching prospects in the country.
He is the second commitment for Tennessee's 2024 class, joining outfielder Ben Joyce, who committed to the Vols in June.
Crabtree's commitment is a big get for Tennessee, which is looking to add depth to its pitching staff.
"Thomas is a talented young pitcher with a lot of upside," Tennessee coach Tony Vitello said in a statement. "He has a good fastball and is developing a solid changeup and slider. We're excited to have him join our program and believe he has the potential to be a valuable contributor."
Crabtree is expected to join the Vols next fall.
