State Patrol Investigating Multiple Carjackings on I-5, Suspects Arrested
Suspects in Custody after String of I-5 Carjackings
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating a series of carjackings that occurred on Interstate 5 (I-5) on Thursday evening. Multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with the incidents.
Five Carjackings Reported
According to WSP, five carjackings were reported along I-5 in the southbound lanes near Fife and Tacoma. The incidents occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
In each case, the suspects approached the victims' vehicles, brandished weapons, and demanded their cars. The victims complied, and the suspects fled in the stolen vehicles.
Suspects Arrested
WSP troopers responded quickly to the reports and set up a perimeter in the area. With the help of local law enforcement agencies, multiple suspects were located and arrested.
The suspects are currently in custody and are being interviewed by detectives. Charges are expected to be filed in the coming days.
I-5 Reopened
I-5 was closed for several hours while WSP investigated the carjackings and searched for the suspects. The interstate has since been reopened.
